Wandering to Okinawa: Embracing the Journey

Hello, friends! I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. The reason? We have been preparing for a sort of sudden (as of April) move to Okinawa, Japan! Yes, the Wandering RD is wandering yet again!

We leave in about two weeks and will be there three years. At the moment, I’m in the thick of dealing with my hoarding tendencies. And then there’s the stress of getting our dog, Max, there. I’ll spare you the details, but suffice it to say: ugh! It doesn’t get easier even when it’s your third move overseas!

Honestly, I’m not loving that we have to move again, especially so far away and when it’s been the most difficult move yet. But I’m trying to embrace the adventure and remind myself it’s the journey, not the destination–just having to dig a little deeper to find my “happy” wanderer this time!

I know she’s in there somewhere…but usually I can’t find her till after the last of our stuff leaves our house (next week)!

Wandering can be calm

Despite the stress, I am excited to enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn more about the Okinawan culture. Okinawa has been identified as a Blue Zone, meaning people tend to live to a healthy old age of 100+ there. They must be doing something right! So we shall see…

Once again, thanks for following The Wandering RD! I can’t wait to share more with you to continue to make your journey a little easier and healthier. If you’re looking for real food inspiration, don’t forget to check out my recipe page!

Oh my goodness! How exciting. Thanks to you and Dr. N for your service and sacrifice. Can’t wait to read about your new adventures, especially all the different foods. Fingers crossed for the move…..I know NMCP will miss Dr. N.
